Easy tips to prevent a fire.
October is National Fire Prevention month, and it’s a great time to review some precautions you can take to prevent any fires, particularly a home fire.
- Smoke detectors are your first line of defense. Make sure all smoke detectors are properly installed and the battery is working. You can test the battery according to the instructions in your manual. Do not forget to replace the battery for each detector at least once per year.
- Always use appliances in accordance with the manufacturers’ specifications. If you see any sparks or smell anything unusual, unplug the appliance immediately and seek repairs.
- Do not overload electrical outlets or extension cords.
