Your furnace is one of the most expensive – and important! – hidden parts of your home. I write this, wishing I’d written it a few weeks ago, and taken my own advice after our furnace failed last week, how stressful!
Since I’ve been through it recently and spoke to many friends who’ve experienced the same thing, as well as a number of furnace repairmen and heating professionals, here is my advice:
– Make sure you change your furnace filter every 30-60 days in the winter. Write it on your calendar or put a reminder on your phone so you don’t forget.
– Make sure you know how your thermostat works and if it takes batteries, and if so what kind – this simple fix can cause a big problem if you think that your furnace is broken, when in reality, your thermostat batteries are dead!
